With the new Lockdown communal worship is currently still permitted. However, the guidance does state that those who are regarded as being at increased risk should be strongly discouraged from attending ‘faith gatherings’ – in our case, the celebration of Mass. I, as your Parish Priest, would fully support this advice and, if you have received a letter to self isolate or are among those at increased risk through age or medical condition, please remain safe and, if you can, be united with those in church through the online Mass. Also, if you are not part of the above groups, but feel anxious / worried about being in groups of people then my advice would be the same. Please remember to keep social distancing, sanitise hands when you come in and when you leave the church, wear you face covering over your mouth and nose.

Capacity of St. Joseph’s is 140 and Holy Family is 100 to maintain 2 meter social distancing which sadly means that we must close the doors once we have reached full capacity. The church will be open 30 minutes before each Mass as it will take a while to get everyone into Mass safely. When you arrive, there may be a queue to enter into church. More details in the parish newsletter.

Prayer For Spiritual Communion

If you are following Mass on any of the social media live streaming, Father Woolley suggests that during the silence after Communion, everyone prays this prayer.

My Jesus,

I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

I love you above all things,

and I desire to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you.

Amen

Online giving to the Parish

For those Parishioners who normally give in the collection at Mass and wish to help the Parish at this time, an online donation page to allow you to donate to the Parish has set up. Please be aware that a minimum donation of £5 is requested if giving in this way. The page can also be used to set up a regular monthly donation, and you can also Gift Aid your donation to help the Parish further. If you want to Gift Aid your donation, please tick the box shown on the screen even if you have previously completed a Gift Aid Declaration form in favour of the Parish for regular giving made by Offertory Envelope or Standing Order.
